Lignocelluosic plant biomass is nonedible to human which was harvested for about 1.8 trillion tons globally per annum. Recent technological developments in the upgrading of lignin derived model compounds from newlinebiomass to fine chemicals have been drastically influenced by catalytic hydrodeoxygenation. The fundamental methodological aspects of catalysis should not be overlooked, since they provide the framework for designing catalysts from insight rather than screening for developing new catalysts and the reaction processes. A mesoporous and nanostructured material plays a pivotal role in various applications such as catalysis, drug delivery, separations, ion exchange and nanotechnology. These materials provide a better dispersion of metal particle and enhance the accessibility of active sites in the field of catalysis. The most important feature of reusability, recyclability heterogeneous solid catalysts made an attractable attention for fine chemical synthesis. Best results have been obtained with Pd supported catalysts for hydrodeoxygenation reactions. Due to versatile applications of Pd, we have investigated Pd loaded on different supported catalysts with different loadings by wet impregnation method. Different supports such as mesoporous siliceous, pure metal oxides and nanostructured carbon materials were used. The used siliceous supports are hexagonal SBA-15 and cubic KIT-6. Support enhances the dispersion of metal particles and made faster diffusion of reactants and products during the reaction. Nontoxic and nonionic triblock copolymer (P-123) is used as a template for the synthesis of KIT-6, SBA-15. Both have a neutral framework with the absence of Bronsted and Lewis acid sites which helps to create the desired active sites through the metal in the catalyst newline newline
