Abstract
Throughout the course of human history, we have faced numerous threats to the security of our nations. These threats have caused immeasurable harm, from the loss of countless lives to the destruction of property, widespread illness and injuries, displacement of people, and significant financial losses. Terrorism may manifest itself in a variety of ways, such as through bombs, armed attacks, hijackings, or the abduction of hostages. It is also capable of targeting a wide variety of targets, including individuals, governmental actors, or public infrastructure. Unfortunately, the situation has only worsened in recent times, with the advent of new technological advancements and ongoing international political unrest1 . These developments have led to an increase in national security risks and have made it all the more imperative that we take action to protect our citizens and way of life. Attacks and deaths caused by terrorism are uncommon around the world. Some countries have frequent and rising assaults, while others have none. It was pretty clear that terrorism was seen as a form of political violence, but here comes the big question: why do people care so much about violence? It s a really complicated question that people have trouble understanding. In recent years, terrorism has been associated with organizations such as Al-Qaeda, and now also with the rise of ISIS, both of which are well-known for their use of violence to make statements to their enemies2 . This chapter offers comprehensive information and scholarly study pertaining to the prevalence of terrorism, its variations across different nations and especially in India, and the temporal trends indicating its potential increase or decrease
