Abstract
Suicide, now a days is an alarming epidemiology. The rate of suicide is so high not only in
newlineIndia but also in the other countries of the world. It takes almost 5,00,000 lives in the world
newlineper year. The most alarming issue is the increasing suicidal tendency or suicidal ideation
newlineamong the people across the globe. Statistics present a horrible scenario. According to the
newlinereports of NCRB (2000-2001) and ICMR (2000) approximately 1,00,000 people commit
newlinesuicide each year. In the case of china, it is 700 per day. Beside, these data, so many cases of
newlinesuicide are unreported, which are really very painful. The actual scenario is more alarming.
newlineBecause in so many cases, cause of death is being changed in other respectable reasons in
newlineofficial records (O Donnells and Farmer, 1995; Anderson andSilver, 1997). It has some other
newlinedimensions also, like suicidal ideation, attempted suicide, etc. These two are also increasing
newlineand the rate of increase is rapid and high.
