newlinePREFACE OF STUDY
newlineBreast cancer is the most prominent cancer type in majority of nations worldwide having 2.1 million newer breast cancer cases in 2018 accounting for nearly 1 in 4 cancer cases among women. Occurrence is increasing gradually in all countries, especially among developing countries like India with higher mortality rate. In context of Indian women, it is occurring a decade earlier than western nations and most common among young and premenopausal women of rural and urban areas (Agarwal et al., 2008; Nagrani et al., 2017). Reason elucidated behind rising incidence is due to demographic changes like expanding and aging population as well as because of adoption of unhealthy lifestyle pattern and changed behavioural pattern (Forouzanfar MH et al., 2011).
newlineIn spite of current advancements in treatment and diagnosis, it still remains a huge threat because of higher mortality rate among Indian population linked with late stage at diagnosis and advanced stage treatment of malignancy which is tough to control (Bray et al., 2013; Ferlay et al., 2015; Jemal et al., 2011). Breast cancer possess heterogenous nature and probably linked with various social, cultural, environmental, lifestyle-related habits as well as many risk factors with striking geographic variations. It still remains a global threat due to its metastatic potential where a cascade of gene interaction might play a vital role in boosting its invasive and aggressive behaviour.
newlineThus, difference in density and diversity of these risk factors demands separate sociodemographic study in regional context as well as an in-depth study is needed to understand the mystery process of distant spread occurring inside the body at molecular level. Keeping all this points in mind and since there are no documented reports available from Saurastra region of Gujarat state in breast cancer in spite of having higher cases. The attempt is been made to assess the breast cancer patients from Saurastra region of Gujarat at Socio-demographic, Clinico-pathological and Molec
