Abstract
The case study analysis of the usage of technology in accelerating the criminal justice system at the trial courts in Mumbai, the current study seeks to understand the prevailing justice system and suggest measures for its improvement. The purpose of the current section in the study is to generalize the viewpoint of the study participants, with respect to the justice system, to highlight the need for implementation of technology in the justice system. It focuses on the identification of the technology related education gap, that exists in the academics of law and Indian judiciary, to provide recommendations for inclusion of modern-day professional improvements that can be used for the advancements of respective fields. The study reviewed the existing literature on the evolution and basic of criminal justice system in India, emphasizing upon the challenges in the face of accelerating the criminal justice system, 206 specially in the trial courts in Mumbai. Additionally, the problems associated with the present traditional methods in the Indian justice system at trial courts were also highlighted. The major drawback in the justice system arising from the delays in the criminal proceeding systems, resulting from slow trial process and poor use of modern technology, was observed. The results of the study can be further interpolated to monitor the impact of the technical assessments already adopted by the Indian judiciary and the results of the study can further be used to reinforce the need of accountability for all roles associated with the justice system. The study can further assist in designing public policies that are aligned with the goals of making a superior system and enhancing the functioning of the trial courts in India.
