Association of indian universities in promotion and promulgation of sport and cultural activities a case study

Abstract

Inter-University Board of India was formed for the reciprocal interactions newlineamong the Indian universities. The Calcutta University Commission first pointed out newlinethe lack of co-ordination on several important matters among the Indian Universities newlinein 1919. The idea of a common platform for all Indian universities emerged from the newlinedeliberations of a conference of the vice-chancellors convened by Lord Reading, the newlinethen viceroy of India at Shimla in 1924. On March 23 rd , 1925, the Inter-university newlineBoard (IUB) of India was formed, with the view of mutual recognition of Degrees, newlineDiploma, migration between universities, promoting university activities especially by newlineway of sharing information and co-operation in the field of education, culture, sports newlineand allied areas. The Inter-University Board acquired a legal status with its newlineregistration in 1967 as a society under the Society Registration Act, 1860. And, in newline1973, it assumed its present name; The Association of Indian Universities.
