Synthesis and characterization of some schiff base complexes

Abstract

The present work aims at the preparation of coordination complexes of CrIII MnII FeIII CoII NiII CuII ZnII CdII and HgII with a Schiff base derived from phenylacetylurea and Salicylaldehyde SBPS and thiocyanate ion by microwave assisted method and to characterize them All the metal complexes were prepared by the addition of required mole ratios of SBPS in methanol and potassium thiocyanate in ethanol to the corresponding metal nitrates chloride followed by microwave irradiation for 10 seconds after the addition of each ligand The precipitated complexes were filtered washed with ethanol and dried Elemental analysis C H N S and metal estimation of the complexes were carried out to arrive at the molecular formulae The low molar conductance values of 10 3M complex solutions 50 90 ohm 1cm2mol 1 in acetonitrile indicate that they are non ionic and 1 0 type. newline
