The need for electricity has grown significantly on a worldwide newlinescale for a number of reasons, including the rapidly evolving and newlinecomplex technology, changing climate patterns, human lifestyles, and newlineeconomic expansion. This shift has prompted a considerable rise in the newlineadoption of renewable energy sources, necessitating the integration of newlinethese sources into existing power grids. Micro grids have emerged as a newlinepromising solution, offering localized generation and distribution of newlineelectricity, thereby enhancing energy resilience and sustainability. newlineHowever, the fluctuating sources and load become a major challenge for newlinea Microgrid system. At present, there are numerous converter topologies newlineavailable and the choice of the topology becomes a challenge. New newlinetopologies are also under research depending upon the power rating, newlineefficiency, scalability, modularity and applications. So, this research newlineaims to address these challenges by designing an efficient Energy newlineManagement System (EMS) specifically for Micro grids integrated with newlineConverter, ensuring optimized energy flow and meeting diverse load newlinerequirements. newlineThis research also focusses on a new Converter topology termed newlineas Alternate Arm Converter (AAC) which is a novel hybrid construction newlineof Modular Multi Level Converter (MMC) was proposed. Various newlinemodulation techniques were investigated on AAC and Phase Shift newlineModulation technique has been found suitable for this topology. A novel newlinecontrol strategy was proposed for the switching control of AAC newlineswitches, resulting in a smooth output waveform. Further, reduction of THD was achieved by implementing Bacterial Foraging Optimization newlineTechnique in AAC topology. This new converter topology for microgrid integration has been newlinetried for the first time.
