dc.description.abstractIn order to satisfy the ever increasing demands for building of newlinesuitable spintronic solid state devices, the research on obtaining materials newlinewith room temperature ferromagnetism along with spin polarized carriers is newlineenormously growing. Though dilute magnetic oxide semiconductors doped newlinewith transition elements are well reported in literature, reports on rare earth newlinedoping of dilute magnetic oxides and its magnetic properties are to be newlineharnessed soon. Further, graphene being called a miracle material with newlineproperties like high charge carrier mobility, defect induced by atoms and newlinechemical functionalization needs a way to improve and investigate the newlineapplicability of graphene. Semiconductors integrated with functional newlinematerials in different forms and structure is always a field of considerable newlineinterest. These structure offer intriguing properties to fabricate electro-optic newlineand magneo-optic devices. Based on the above perceptives, the present work newlinefocuses on synthesis and characterisation of rare earth doped dilute magnetic newlineoxides and its graphene composites. newlineThis dissertation provides a summary of diluted magnetic oxide newlinesemiconductor namely TiO2 doped with rare earth ion with different magnetic newlinemoments and basics of graphene synthesis with experimental techniques to newlineform nanocomposites. Some physical properties of the system measured by newlinevarious spectroscopic and microscopic techniques are also presented. newlineA detailed study on structural, optical and magnetic properties of newlinepure and Gd doped TiO2 nanoparticles synthesized by simple sol-gel method newlineis carried out.
