Abstract
The present study on Enablers and Challenges of Quality in Higher Education Institutes: A Total Quality Management Perspective has been embarked by the researcher to study the relationship between the domain constructs and to study the impact of different factors on the quality of HEI s of India. Higher education institutes have grown significantly in recent years and these days we find a lot more focus on quality in the field of higher education than ever before. Thus, it becomes important to maintain the quality of institutes on a continuous basis. Therefore, the research tries to measure and analyze the factors of the perceived quality of higher education institutes on a macro level.
newlineThe objective of the study is to identify the factors which serve as enablers and challenge in the quality of higher education institutes. The study also focuses on to study the impact of enablers and challenges on the quality of higher education institutes. The study presents comprehensive framework of quality factors and to examine the perceived quality of higher education institutes. The framework is derived from extensive literature review.
newlineA quantitative study on a sample of 324 with descriptive research design was conducted. The valid responses were used for analysis and further testing of model. The findings show that the enablers and challenges scales exhibit both reliability and convergent and divergent validity. Structural equation modelling methodology using PLS-SEM was used as a rigorous statistical techniques to validate the proposed model.
newlineThe findings of the study report that seven out of eight hypotheses proposed for the study have a significant relationship. The one variable, that is lack of infrastructure does not show significant relationship with perceived quality of HEI s. The findings of this study can be used by policy makers, practitioners includes administrators, researchers, accreditation, employees and students, to accelerate the quality of higher education institutes of India. The study provides the overall view of enablers and challenges in respect of central, deemed and private universities.
