Investigation of Emerging Tumour Markers in Hepatocellular Carcinoma with Emphasis on Clinical Utility

Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading tumour of the liver and it accounts for newlinegt80% of primary liver cancers worldwide. Globally, liver cancer ranks as the seventh most newlineprevalent primary malignant tumour and ranks third in cancer-related mortality, with HCC newlineaccounting for more than 90% of liver cancer cases. On account of HCC s highly aggressive newlineand insidious nature and a lack of effective and early diagnostic methods, a large proportion of newlineHCC cases are identified when the patients are already at an advanced stage, at which point newlinecurative treatments are not viable, resulting in a fairly poor prognosis. Consequently, early newlinedetection and effective treatment are extremely important to improve the overall survival of newlinelife of patients with HCC. Therefore, identifying the role of novel tumour marker for the newlinediagnosis can improve the prognostic and therapeutic benefit of patients with HCC newline
