dc.description.abstractWhen waves with frequency close to the frequency of harbor basin arrives at the newlineharbor entrance, they amplifies in the harbor due to combined effect of wave newlinerefraction, diffraction and multiple reflections from the interior harbor boundaries. newlineThe resulting wave perturbations/oscillations in the harbor causes resonance newlinecondition. This resonant state sometime causes significant moored ship motion, newlineinterrupt berthing operations, breaks mooring ropes, collapse the coastal structure, newlineships, and affect various harbor activities. Consequently, the wave induced newlineoscillation study in the harbor plays significant role in coastal engineering. The newlinereliable knowledge of the water surface oscillation properties is useful in identifying newlinethe harbor locations where strong or weak oscillations can be expected. Also, in newlineorder to modify or design a safe and operationally efficient artificial harbor, the precise understanding of the harbor oscillations is crucial. newline
