Abstract
The rapid development in the field of information communication technology is changing the
newlineway that we live, work, and play in various ways. One such essential change is the transition
newlineof the industrial economy to the networked economy. The main basis of networked economy
newlineis human knowledge, computers and connectivity. It s a type of economic environment
newlineescalating from the digitization of fast-growing, multilayered, highly interactive, real-time
newlineconnections among people, devices, and businesses. The communication network system
newlineoperates behind the scenes for seamless communication, cohesive functioning, and effective
newlineresource sharing. End users usually don t think about them unless something goes wrong.
newlineHence communicating network structure is the major critical and vital infrastructures for
newlineeffective and reliable communication system.
newlineThe most significant technical and perpetual challenge for network designers in topological
newlinedesign of critical and large scale communication networks is to attain higher level
newlinesurvivability and dependability at lower cost. Dependability is concerned with the
newlinetrustworthiness of the communication networks system It is generally defined using four
newlineattributes namely reliability of the network, availability of the network, safety of the network
newlineand security of the network . Survivability of a communication network system is the ability
newlineof a system structure to continue operating in spite of the presence of abnormal events.
newlineAbnormal events may be a failure or an intrusion or an attack, or it may be an accident. Both
newlinethe design requirements viz. dependability and survivability attributes in the design of
newlinecomplex communication network infrastructure topologies, are measurable attributes.
newline The most common accepted measurable attribute in the design of network topological
newlinestructures by network designers and researchers is the concept of fault-tolerance. This thesis
newlineaddresses the major network research design issues and concepts which has direct impact on
newlinethe performan
