In this work the aerodynamic characteristics of NACA 2421 unsymmetrical aerofoil is newlinestudied at Reynolds number of 1.8 x 105 based upon the Renolds number suggested by newlineEuropean Association of Unmanned Vehicle systems. The boundary layer is studied by newlineimposing the vibration effect of Piezo electric material. Due to the Piezo electric effect on newlinethe boundary layer, the lift is enhanced and the drag is reduced. Boundary layer is newlineperturbed mainly by the vibration of the piezo electric material. In this research, influence newlineof flow over an unsymmetrical NACA 2421 aerofoil in subsonic flow of newlineMach number 0.058 and at a low Reynolds number has been appraised in detail by using newlineeffect of piezo electricity in a low speed wind tunnel at Hindustan Institute of Technology newlineand Science, School of Aeronautical Sciences. The actuators located at quarter of the newlinechord of the aerofoil wing model promoted a small normal-to-surface perturbation. While newlinethe flow field everywhere in the aerofoil is appraised by using a smoke generator, the lift newlineand drag forces were acquired using a three component load cell. The results show that newlinethe flow is affected by this perturbation as long as the perturbation frequency is high newlineenough, say higher than ten times the dominant frequency of vortex shedding from the newlineaerofoil. By suppressing the boundary layer lift is enhanced. The flow visualization is newlinedone by using smoke from smoke generator in subsonic wind tunnel. The pressure newlinedistribution along the air foil section is measured by using pressure measuring sensor. In newlinethis experimental study the pressure distributions along with the lift and drag are newlinemeasured with and without Piezo Electric Effect. Numerical flow analysis is carried out newlineby utilizing ANSYS CFX. The results are in agreement with the pressure measurement, newlineload cell measurement and computational fluid dynamics.
