A Study of Cytotoxic and Apoptotic Effects of Bacteriocin Produced by Staphylococcus Spp

Abstract

Human health awareness is increasing day by day and the preference for drugs without side effects has prompted research on the beneficial properties of bacteriocins from microorganisms. In the recent era, the crucial role of the natural microbiota in health and disease has been highlighted. One of the ways by which bacteria can destroy the pathogens is via bacteriocin production that displays antimicrobial activity against bacteria closely related to the producer strain. This study was aimed to isolate Staphylococcus aureus for the production of bacteriocin. Skin swab samples of 93 people were collected from different age groups of males and females and 17 strains of Staphylococcus aureus were confirmed following Bergeys s manual and five isolates out of this demonstrated inhibitory activity against different indicator strains. newline
