A Study On The Correlation Of Microalbuminuria And C Reactive Protein In Normotensive And Hypertensive Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Abstract

Background: The present study was aimed to assess correlation of microalbuminuria newlineand C-reactive protein in normotensive and hypertensive type 2 diabetic patients. newlineIntroduction: In diabetes and hypertension blood pressure is one of the main newlinedeterminant of microalbuminuria. Because CRP and microalbuminuria considered to be newlineclosely related with same disease processes, there may be the possibility of some strong newlinerelationship. And this relationship may vary in condition of some other cardiovascular newlinerisk factors eg. in diabetes and hypertension. So, an attempt has been made to find out newlinethe association of CRP with microalbuminuria and whether this association varies in newlinediabetic population with or without hypertension. newlineMaterial and Methods: The present study includes 500 type 2 diabetic subjects and newlinefurther divided into two groups based on hypertension group A (Normotensive) and newlinegroup B (hypertensive). Biochemical parameters analyzed in the department of newlinebiochemistry of National Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Jaipur. newlineHypertension was considered according to definition of WHO; as systolic blood newlinepressure (SBP) and#8805;140 mmHg and diastolic (DBP) and#8805;90 mmHg. newlineStatistical Analysis: Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 20. All the newlinedata were presented as mean ±SD for continuous variables and percentage for newlinecategorical variables. A comparison was done between variables using independent newlinestudents t - test. Correlation was performed between variables using Pearson s newlinecorrelation coefficient analysis. A p-value lt0.05 was considered as statistically newlinesignificant. newlineResults: In this study the minimum age was 26 years old and maximum age was 70 newlineyears old. Out of total 500 patients, 58% were males while 42% were females. In newlinenormotensive diabetic group (Group A) maximum patients were in age group of gt55 newlineyears (38%) whereas in hypertensive diabetic group (Group B), maximum numbers of newlinepatients (36%) were in the age group of 46-55 years. In both the groups A and B, newlineSystolic blood pressure was 125±5.49 Vs
