newline It is indeed ironical that when a novelist tries to present a picture of life and society in its totality, he draws a lot of flak as can be seen in the case of Arundhati Roy and Aravind Adiga. It cannot be denied that both do present the dark side of Indian society to which we cannot shut our eyes and it is imperative that the novelist gives a true picture of the seamy side of society as well.
