Abstract
Micromachining is facing new challenges with the constantly growing demand for smaller, more accurate structures in new and emerging materials. Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) has the potential to fulfill those needs in hard to machine materials, high strength temperature resistant alloys and complex work geometries.
newlineElectro Discharge Machining is an electro-thermal non-traditional machining process, where electrical energy is used to generate electrical spark and material removal mainly occurs due to thermal energy of the spark. The entire process happens with the set-up submerged in a dielectric liquid which helps in removing the eroded particles.
newlineThe literature study reveals that there is a no work is carried out on machining of Titanium super alloy (BT20L) using copper as electrode on EDM. The comparative study between single objective and multi objective optimization is also not reported much in the earlier published work. Various Scholars mainly concentrated on enhancing the output parameter. Nevertheless, identifying the optimum conditions for best performance continues to remain indefinable.
