| dc.description.abstract | newline In this study analysis of air pollutants such as PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NOx, and BTX were assessed to determine the ambient air quality of Satna City. The PM10 and PM2.5 were found higher than the permissible limit at all the monitoring station. Seasonal variation of PM10 and PM2.5 showed that in winter air quality becomes worst due to low temperature and humidity particulate matter condenses in lower atmosphere. newlineGaseous air pollutants SO2 and NOx were well below the permissible limit at all the sampling station in both study years. Seasonal values for SO2 and NOx were also found within the permissible limits at all the stations and in all the season. newlineThe main source of BTX emissions are petrol and diesel filling stations, industrial activities followed by transportation activities, motor vehicles etc. In Satna City its presence in the ambient air is emission is mainly by motor vehicles. All the values recorded for Benzene, Toluene and Xylene were found within the permissible limit at all the monitoring station in both the study year. newlineAir Quality Index (AQI) was calculated. It was observed that residential and commercial station where in moderate category but industrial station was in poor category. While 2019 only residential station was found in moderate category. In commercial and Industrial station were observed in poor category. It is indicating that in comparison to 2018 the air quality deteriorated in 2019. Overall air Quality of Satna city was found in Moderate to Poor category which may lead to breathing discomfort and other respiratory disorders. | |
