Protein expression profiling of Labeo rohita infected with Edwardsiella tarda

Abstract

newlineAquaculture has been hampered by various infectious diseases that restrict the newlinedevelopment of effective, economical, and sustainable aquaculture systems. Labeo newlinerohita (rohu), is an economically important candidate aquaculture species. newlineEdwardsiella tarda is an important gram-negative pathogen that infects diverse fish, newlineincluding rohu. At present, proteomic information on the disease mechanism in the newlineIndian major carp is limited. In the study, proteomic and histological analysis of liver, newlinekidney and gut tissue was performed following E. tarda infection. The differential newlineproteomic response against E. tarda infection was investigated using label-free newlinequantification and tandem mass tag (TMT) quantitative proteomics.
