Effect Of Rainwater Conservation Practices And Mulching On Yield Of Maize Under Changing Climate

Abstract

An experiment was conducted on kharif season maize during 2018-19 and 2019-20 at Soil Conservation and Water Management Farm, C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur. The soil of experimental field was sandy loam having pH 7.4, organic carbon 0.33 %, total nitrogen 0.034%, available phosphorus 16.1 kg ha-1 and available potassium 157.2 kg ha-1 before the starting of present experiment. The farmer practice, ridge and furrow micro jal-kund between rows and flat sowing with earthing under rain water conservation practices (main plots) and no mulching, organic mulching at 4t ha-1 and green manuring biomass mulching under mulching practices (sub plots) were tested in split plot design with three replications. The maize variety HQPM -2 was sown with recommended conservation agronomical practices newline
