The general theory of relativity is a highly successful theory. It has excelled newlinein explaining astronomical phenomena and making precise predictions, many of newlinewhich have been observationally verified. However, the theory also faces challenges newlinewhen dealing with extreme scenarios, like the collapse of massive stars or the newlineearly moments of the Universe. Singularities emerge in these conditions where newlinethe theory breaks down, revealing its incompleteness. Efforts to address these newlinesingularities have included formulating a quantum theory of gravity, but a successful newlinequantum theory corresponding to general relativity has yet to be achieved. These newlineproblems, rooted in the unique structure of Einstein s gravity. These intricacies newlinepresent formidable challenges in the quest for quantum gravity. This situation newlineunderscores the incompleteness of general relativity and prompts the exploration of newlinealternative paradigms for understanding gravity. What sets gravity apart from other newlinefundamental forces is its profound connection to the thermodynamics of spacetime, newlinea characteristic that lacks a natural explanation within the framework of general newlinerelativity. newlineThe connection between gravity and thermodynamics first emerged in the study newlineof black hole physics. In 1973, Bekenstein proposed that black holes possess entropy newlineproportional to their horizon area. Subsequently, Bardeen and others formulated newlinelaws of black hole dynamics analogous to the laws of thermodynamics, and Hawking newlineshowed that black holes also possess temperature and can emit radiation. All these newlineled to the association of temperature and entropy with black holes, raising questions newlineabout why solutions of general relativity, like black holes, exhibit thermodynamic newlineproperties. Subsequently, Unruh s work revealed that the phenomenon of black newlinebody radiation and the associated temperature characteristics of spacetime are not newlineexclusive to black holes.
