dc.description.abstractNanostructured metal ion doped Mn1-xMxFe2O4 (0 _ x _ 0:25) (M = Cu2+, Zn2+, newlineNi2+ and Cd2+) spinels were prepared by the chemical co-precipitation method using newlinemetal chlorides as raw materials. The spinel ferrites thus prepared were evaluated for phase purity by powder x-ray diffraction (XRD), crystalline nature through selected area electron diffraction (SAED) in high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), morphology by high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HR-SEM), elemental analysis by energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) studies, optical bandgap by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), vibrational frequencies by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, defect states by photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy and optical nonlinearity by Z-scan technique usingCWlaser. Optical limiting effect was studied using CW laser at 532 nm on pure and doped manganese ferrites. Results indicate that these samples can be used for various non-linear optical (NLO) device applications. newline
